Posting Details Posting Information Posting Number S205P Working Title Assistant Athletic Director/Compliance/SWA FLSA Exempt Pay Grade Non-Classified Advertised SalaryPosition Status Full Time Appointment Length 12 Months Department Athletics Job Summary/Basic Function A dynamic and experienced individual to assist the Vice President of Athletics with the daily operations and oversight of the Division II intercollegiate athletics program.
As the primary Compliance Officer, this person will ensure strict adherence to all NCAA bylaws and conference regulations as well as institutional policies and procedures and provide rules education to the department and institution.
This position assists in maintaining institutional control of the NCAA compliance program; institutional control, as adopted by the NCAA membership, locates the primary responsibility for rules compliance squarely on each institution and requires each institution both to self-monitor and to self-report when potential violations are uncovered.
This position also minimizes risk to Shepherd of NCAA violations, sanctions and investigations by maintaining an atmosphere of NCAA compliance and institutional control.
The Assistant Athletic Director must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a compliance and service program that emphasizes integrity and the educational welfare of its student-athletes and strives for excellence within the University's mission.
The Assistant Director is also responsible for the efficient and successful management of fifteen NCAA sponsored sports programs.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in sports management or related field.
3 years documented success in athletic administration or related field.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in student development in a collegiate athletics environment a plus.
Master's degree in athletic administration or related field.

Assist in the development and implantation of a gender equity action plan and participate in decisions regarding gender equity and student-athletes' welfare.
Provide managerial and administrative leadership for the athletics department.
This may involve supervision of designated sport teams, coaches, interns, league officials, game management staff, and student-employees.
Assist in oversight of the athletics department operations and game management.
Assist the Vice President for Athletics on management of expense budgets and compensation review.
This may include utilizing and tracking the appropriate use of grant opportunities.
Assist in supervision of Training Room personnel to ensure that issues related to student-athlete health and well-being is properly addressed by Athletics Department staff and coaches.
Assist in managing Athletic Department community outreach to ensure that needs of community is being properly served by the department, coaches and student-athletes.
Maintains all required NCAA documentation including eligibility reports - which include but are not limited to annual Financial Aid reports, squad lists, eligibility checklists, athletic scholarships, National Letters of Intent, recruiting documentation - which includes but is not limited to on and off-campus visit logs, evaluations and contact logs, playing season restrictions which include but are not limited to daily and weekly practice logs, declaration of playing seasons, sports sponsorship requirements and outside competition of student-athletes in non-institutional and international contests as well as student-athlete employment activities.
Investigates all suspected and reported rule violations to determine if an NCAA violation occurred and assists the Vice President for Athletics with proper corrective action.
Works with NCAA Eligibility Center to evaluate student's amateur history and insure all Shepherd student-athletes meet NCAA rules; Advises student-athletes who hope to compete professionally on how to maintain amateur status.
Examines recruiting activities for compliance with NCAA rules.
Works with NCAA Eligibility Center to evaluate every student's high school transcript history and insure all Shepherd student-athletes meet NCAA rules; Advises coaches on student-athletes NCAA eligibility; Advises student-athletes and coaches on NCAA and conference regulations.
Researches and interprets NCAA, PSAC and Shepherd rules for coaches and staff and analyzes presented scenarios to determine permissibility.
Prepares NCAA waivers and reports which includes but are not limited to the Academic Success Rates, Graduation rates, Sports Sponsorship, hardship waivers, progress toward degree waivers and student-athlete reinstatement.
Oversees game management activities for all sports other than football which includes but is not limited to personnel (game day officials, game coordinator, game manager, student-athletes, interns and casual employees), security, webcasting, broadcasting and fan-engagement activities.
